Burt retired from HM The Queen where he worked in the Royal Cellars for 16 years. He traveled with the court to their annual peregrinations from Buckingham Place to Windsor Castle, Sandringham House, Holyrood House and Balmoral Castle. His term of service covered some of the most turbulent times for the royal family. He was one of the last royal servants to wear full state livery.
