The Best Western is Haiti’s newest hotel

Located in Petion-ville, a fashionable suburb of Port-au-Prince, Haiti’s capital, the Best Western Premier is a vision of the new Haiti. The hotel is excellent and only 30 minutes from the international airport – transportation is available for a fee. Based on the quote by Selden Rodman, a writer and folk art advocate, “Haiti… where art if joy,” the hotel features works from a variety of Haitian craftspeople throughout the property.

Check out the “Angel of Tenderness” made of recycled aluminum and steel, the banana leaf pictures in guest rooms, and wood carvings of slave boats behind the registration desk. More than 40 artists from around the country are featured throughout the hotel.

Accommodations are large with all the amenities one expects from a high-end hotel such as deluxe bedding, high-speed internet and 42-inch flat-panel TV. The Le Michel Restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor dining for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Their Whiskey Bar offers a wide selection of libations. After a day of work or sightseeing relax at their spa and/or enjoy a dip in their pool.

From the Best Western Premier there is easy access to banks, restaurants and shopping. Not to miss is the newly opened Iron Market where vendors sell a wide variety of articles from souvenirs to pigeons.  Make sure to sign up for Best Western’s customer loyalty program to earn points toward future stays.
